AS WE STRIVE TO OFFER THE BEST POSSIBLE CARE EVERY DAY, OUR CORE VALUES GUIDE US:
- Respect: We respect the uniqueness, the changing needs and the personal wishes of every individual resident and their family members. This impacts all areas: personal care, health care, diet, therapeutic recreation, religious activities, etc.
- Privacy: We afford each resident as much privacy as they require, whether in their own rooms, in common areas, on the telephone or while visiting with friends, family or health care providers. All medical and other personal records are kept confidential, in full compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Visitors who inquire about residents must realize we can’t release information to those not authorized to have it.
- Safety: Many of our residents face high risk for falls, have visual impairment, limited mobility, and deteriorating short-term memory. Many have wandered dangerously in the community before arriving at The Country Home. With those physical and mental challenges in mind, our physical environment, staff training and staffing patterns reflect great concern for resident safety, 24/7. Two senior staff members actually reside in The Country Home. In any potential emergency, we have ample back-up instantly available to supplement on-duty staff.
- Independence: To the greatest extent possible, we encourage the independence and self-reliance of our residents. It might be faster, for example, for an aide to brush a resident’s hair or put on their sweater but if the resident can do that, at his or her own pace, we encourage them to do so for as long as possible. Staff always has to balance independence with safety, however.
